MOMCC Trial February 21, 2010
The Pink & Manning Shield Trial was first Manawatu Orion trial for the year. It was set out by Andy Anderson with assistance from Adrian Walcroft and was held on Telfords farm on Awahou South road. Eight sections were set on grass hillsides, logs, and banks with varying levels of difficulty with sections seven and eight being technically the most difficult, certainly for the A grade anyway.
Twelve riders competed including a few from out of town and one new local rider, Dave Brown from Ashhurst. And the weather was warm and sunny or a change.
Warrick George was riding well and made the harder bits look easy on the A Grade lines. I on the other hand made them look difficult, although Mark Fergusson, down from the Bay, made a few more errors than me so at least I wasn't last.
Tony Smith riding his last event before tying the knot rode okay too to comfortably win the Intermediate Grade. Will his results ever be as good again the question is asked.
All the Clubman Grade riders had scores of 50 and over except Phil Stephenson on a very respectful total of 27. I think everyone enjoyed their days ride, well maybe not Tony Ramshaw as his Scorpa had a fail. Loose sprocket bolts resulting in some hub damage I believe.
The next MOMCC trial is round one of the club champs on March 14th at Galloways farm on Coppermine Road.
